Celebrities Like Wendy Williams Need Drug Classes Too

One of my favorite day-time talk show hosts of all-time is Wendy Williams. We both have a lot in common, and being recovering drug addicts is one of them.

She and I both also were greatly affected, both emotionally and spiritually, by the death of pop icon Whitney Houston due to drug overdose and drowning in a Los Angeles hotel room earlier this year.

Williams walked away from her secret cocaine addiction years ago because she wanted a better life, because it was breaking her parents' hearts and because she knew that otherwise she was headed to an early grave.

Williams and Houston were born the same year and both suffered from serious cocaine addiction. For Williams, it has been almost 15 years since she last smoked out of a crack pipe!

The 47-year-old Williams, a former radio star whose three year-old talk show has been renewed for two more years and is syndicated in more than 150 markets, started dabbling in drugs when she was in college, but later fame and success didn't prevent her escalating habit.

One of the motivating factors for Williams was a desire not to shame her family. Drug addicts do feel shame. They know they are screwing up their lives and letting friends and family members down.

Anyone addicted to drugs should take a drug class. There are also online drug classes.
