Is it just me or does it seem like one National Football League player after another has been arrested this past off-season for driving under the influence? Forget that Miami Dolphins wide receiver Chad Johnson might not have been drunk when he head-butted his wife and sent her scurrying to the neighbors a bloody mess.
In one week three NFL players, besides Johnson (formerly known as Chas Ochocinco – since he wears number 85) were arrested and two of them for alcohol-related offenses and the third had a DUI earlier this summer and this was his second arrest. As reported in espn.go.com.
Donald Washington
Two players were arrested for DUI on the same day – Donald Washington of the Kansas City Chiefs and Marshawn Lynch of the Seattle Seahawks.
Another day, another NFL player runs afoul of the law. This time, it's Chiefs' defensive back Donald Washington was. Originally pulled over for speeding, Washington was later charged with suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
In addition to the DUI charge, Donald David Washington III, 25, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, speeding and driving while license suspended.
Proof that alcohol and drugs make you do stupid things, Washington was traveling 86 miles per hour in a 65-mile per hour.
Charges could increase as officers also found crushed pills in Washington's possession.
Washington played collegiately at Ohio State and has been a backup with the Chiefs since 2009.
I would hope Washington wants to save his career. If so he should enroll in a drug class and seek counseling to help him stay sober. He may not get another shot.
