The legal drinking age in New Brunswick, Canada, including St. John, is 19 years of age. According to the Liquor Control Act, persons under 18 are not to be in a licensed beverage room where liquor can be legally sold or consumed there, unless given authorization.

(a) in the case of a first offense, to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $20,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months or to both; and

(b) in the case of a second or subsequent offense, to a fine of not more than $50,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than 18 months or to both.
